Tips on wood garage doors

Wood garage doors are terrific looking exterior doors at a reasonable price. There are two main designs of wood garage doors, tilt up and the sectional roll up style of wooden door. Tilt up doors come in one piece and open by pulling out and then up wards. They are usually made from soft woods.

Many home owners love the look of a wood garage door. Not only do wooden doors look cool and natural, they are also very reasonably priced. Listed below are some simple tips on wood garage doors.

1… Sectional roll up wood garage doors are either made out plywood or high quality woods such as oak and redwood. This type of door is usually paneled and in four sections, and usually roll up on tracks inside the garage.

2…Wood garage doors are very affordable and the prices run from about $400 to over $1,000.  High quality woods can be much more. There are some drawbacks with wood garage doors, they erode quickly, usually due to the weather and are poor insulators.

Most house owners should try to seal or paint their garage doors ever two to three years to make sure they stay strong and are more resistant to the weather conditions. One thing is for sure if you are looking for a great looking natural garage door, wooden garage doors can’t be beat.
