Whilst summer time is a time of outside fun, it's also a time for outdoor jobs. Seems like there's a long list of things that need to be done in your yard. And, many are jobs that have to be done again, over and over throughout summer.

You especially need to work on your lawn regularly to keep it looking green. If you've had a harsh winter, there may be patches that need to be re-sown with grass seed. Using a quality fertilizer can help your grass grow healthy and thick. And, weed killers can give your grass a manicured look.

Creating flower beds in your yard can increase the value of your house. But, they also produce places where weedeaters often can't be put to use. Adding landscaping pebbles will reduce the hours that you'll need to spend weeding. They can also add a decorative look to your lawn edge and can be bought in various colors.

Your decking is an extra thing that the winter months aren't commonly too good for. The wood can look faded and dried out and may need to be resealed with a good water proof sealant. Any crevices or cracks should be checked for foliage or dirt that can retain water and cause the decking to disintegrate.

While solar lighting fixtures are practically maintenance free, they must be cleaned. Any solar panels must be wiped off to help them work at their optimum. And, you should remove the glass globes and clean them well to allow the light to shine through more clearly.

The outside of your home should be checked each summer and any chips or loose bits of siding or bricks should be repaired. Rain leaking behind any loose pieces of siding or cracked bricks will cause the wood foundation to quickly rot. Mildew or stains can be removed with a special solution, or often just with soap and water.

If you are a swimming pool owner the water must be checked weekly. Keeping the balance of chemicals in your pool at the required level will maintain the water free of bacteria and safe for your family. And, the heat of the summer will cause the bacteria and germs to incubate so don't skimp on this task.

Keeping your outside jobs done on a regular schedule can actually save you time in the long run. There're also many ways to eliminate some chores, such as installing automatic sprinklers. And, the less work that you have to carry out, the more time you can spend doing your most loved summer activities.
