With energy sources depleting at a rate faster than they can be found or renewed, it is only wise that we use the abundant energy available for free ??" solar energy. Apart from the easy availability, solar energy helps control environmental pollution and will never run out.

Many people may understand why to start using solar power but don't have the necessary knowledge or information to do this. They think that it will be complicated or expensive. In reality, there are many types of solar systems you can create. some are very simple and some are a bit more complicated. Starting with the simple ones can give you the necessary skills to take on larger projects.

This article will explore the various solar power options available for home use.

Solar Oven : A solar oven is actually very easy to build. In fact, it is a favorite as a school project. Essentially it involves creating a box the size of a microwave oven that is optimized to attract the thermal rays from the sun. In the ideal conditions you can create some elaborate meals using such a system.

Of course a solar cooker has it's limitations. You can't cook at night and it needs a warm climate. It also takes time to get the temperature up to roast or boil something. However, once that temperature is reached it works just like an ordinary cooker without the energy costs of course.

Solar home lighting : Solar lighting can extend to the home and the garden. Many people use standalone solar lights in the garden for pathways or driveways. The lights store energy during the day and illuminate at night. Lighting in the home usually uses solar panels to create electricity for the Sun. The electricity can be converted and stored for use at light when it is most needed. A good system can save you substantial amounts on power bills.

Solar heating system: Installing a solar heating system in your home helps cut down your electricity bill along with saving the world's limited resources. If you are worried that a solar heating system will turn your sweet home into a gadget house or that it will be an expensive investment, your concerns are misplaced.

Companies providing solar power systems for residential homes make it a point to install aesthetically-pleasing heating systems in your house. As far as expenditure is concerned, investing in a solar heating system can make sense because you get a return on your investment within 3-4 years, giving you absolutely free service after that. You can also get grants and rebates on certain solar systems.
