After working in the kitchen industry for many years, I have seen a large amount of change when it comes to worktops. Granite was the number one choice in terms of luxury kitchen worktops, but since the production of man made materials, times are starting to change. Products such as Maia, GetaCore and Staron have all broken onto the scene ( see http://www.styledkitchens.com/worktops/cat_33.html )and revolutionised the way in which the worktop industry runs. Consumers are now able to purchase readymade full length manmade worktops for their kitchens and install them themselves. This allows the consumer to have the effect of Granite in their property, without the weight, bulkiness and price tag that the convention material carries with it. These man made products have the ability to contain seamless join lines. This makes it more hygienic for the consumer as bacteria is unable to breed within the gaps of the surface. Although you can achieve good join lines with granite, there will always be a visible line on the material - this is not the case with the modern day products. The materials are also stain and house hold product resistant, meaning the users will get good wear from their investment. It can also carry a greater heat resistance over Granite, which again will add years of use onto the product. Both products can have stunning visual appeal when used in the correct way. Granite carries the cold touch and hard feel which is widely known to have, whereas man made products are able to contain many colours, shades, patters and designs to suit the consumer’s specific taste. At a lower cost and with a re-sandable face, the man made products may be on their way to taking over the entire worktop industry. You can purchase Maia, Staron and GetaCore from http://www.StyledKitchens.com .
