When conferencing with any professional web designer, it's likely the term "photoshopping" is going to be heard at least once. This is just a simple example of how popular Photoshop really has become- it has its own verb! This brings new meaning to the urge to learn how Photoshop works, since it has indeed become a household name.

Photoshop tutorials are almost everywhere on the Internet, scattered around different tutorial websites. Most tutorial websites will have a lot of the same Photoshop tutorials- so it's usually a good idea to look for a Photoshop tutorial that comes from a personal webpage or an Internet forum. This isn't to say all tutorial directories are the same, but many are.

It's hard to get into the graphics designing industry without knowing a thing or two about Photoshop. This program is the industry standard program for editing graphics, creating Internet templates, and overall getting one's foot into the door of the graphics industry. There is a steep learning curve, however, that is going to take some time to get around if one is going to be a professional designer.

Advanced Photoshop users are at a disadvantage, since most tutorials are written for intermediate Photoshop users. Advanced tutorials usually incorporate many tasks into one- such as building and coding a web template or creating a complete header or logo from start to finish. Most advanced Photoshop tutorials will also use advanced tools and editing techniques- so be sure to learn the basics first.

The best place to find good Photoshop tutorials is to take advantage of designer resources, forums, and directories that spell out everything designers need to learn to get their entry into the designing industry. Social networking applications such as StumbleUpon allows designers to "stumble" onto new designing resources they may find of interest. As most will agree, this is one of the best ways to get into the practice of becoming a better web designer.

Photoshop is an expensive product. In the old days it was common to shell out hundreds of dollars for the product. New times have brought new prices, and the Photoshop suite can be bought for much less. If you are currently enrolled in a university as a student or if you have a business need for the program, discounts can be obtained to soften the blow of the price tag in question.

Closing Comments

There hasn't been anyone who could take the throne away from Photoshop- no one has even come close. As a result, budding web designers should keep in mind that learning to use the tool is going to be a requirement for most jobs and employers. Within a couple of months, you too can become a Photoshop master with some hard work and practice!
