Are you thinking of going to get your first tattoo? If so, you might be a bit nervous. You might not know what to expect. Here are a few ways to keep your stress levels down and be prepared, instead.

The first and the foremost vital thing to consider is a famous tattoo artist, when you're planning for a first tattoo. Be confident that the parlor for tattoo is sterile and clean as well as has all the licenses. Try and get some recommendations from family and friends that might have used the same tattoo parlor.

Of course, one big thing to consider, when getting your first tattoo, is what design to get. There is a huge selection of potential tattoo designs on Tattoo My Brain for you to look at and print. You can take those designs to the tattoo parlor that you've chosen and show them to the artist.

Each artist is different, so they will put their own unique spin on the design that you choose. Look at samples of their work and try to choose an artist that represents the style and look that you want. It's also important that their price matches your budget, too. So, be sure to get price quotes from several artists, before you choose the right one to do your first tattoo.

You may not be aware that, before you get your first tattoo, it's also important to prepare your body for the occasion. That means that you need to keep the area that will be tattooed hydrated and soft, so be sure to use lots of lotion. You should also not take aspirin or drink alcohol for several days before you get your tattoo. They are blood thinners. If bleeding is increased, the artist will have trouble working.

The most important thing you should know prior getting the first tattoo is that your first tattoo will consume time. Try and get the entire day clear for the occasion. In fact, few tattoos need to be done in several days of time. If you have a complex tattoo, be ready for a lengthy day as well as possibly, few extra visits.

Remember, when getting your first tattoo, that some people have a higher tolerance for pain and some have a lower tolerance. No matter what, the procedure will be at least a little uncomfortable. Try to take your mind off of it and calm down. Bring a video game or a music player with you, if you want to.

Finally, assure yourself that you take a good care of yourself during your first tattoo. You can once again go for a touch up to the artist, if you think a need of touch up is required. That way, the first tattoo of yours will look like a great art work on which you can feel proud.
